Information
Surface invites artists and creatives to take part in Bloom, a display of plantlife in art.
Throughout art history, artists have captured the complex symbolism of flowers and plants. A flower can represent reproduction or decay, love or hardship—or nothing more than a subject for technical study. People’s connections and fascination with the plant kingdom continues to be explored today.
Any approach is welcome, from still life studies to experiments with collage, photography, paint, and more. We are keen to receive submissions that are contemporary and critically aware, and will exhibit all entries submitted that are on theme.
This will be a rolling exhibition, hosted on our website, Facebook and Instagram. These will be updated continuously to create an evolving exhibition where new connections between artworks will be created, and to create the impression of a growing garden.
