Platform Residency: Spotlight on Miklós Ladányi-Tóth
I am delighted to have been awarded a Platform residency at the Surface Gallery. I will use this opportunity to create something new that develops my previous thinking and uses elements from my previous technical and visual work.
During this creative process I met Holly James and Ryan Boultbee for the first time. The gallery team were already familiar to me because I took part in a few group exhibitions, and I have had a solo exhibition at Surface called Transpattern.
With the two Nottingham based artists we organise a weekly session where we can talk about different aspects of art and the creative process.
My previous works had a political basis but now I have chosen a more generalised social problem. I will try to create a point of view that gives the viewer a special feeling and allows them to see it from different aspects.
I had a one-to-one meeting with Rebecca Beinhart who is also a local artist at the Primary. This was very useful and helped me to narrow down my thinking and made my focus more accurate and detailed.
The Platform is a great opportunity to create something new using different techniques and visual elements. I also have a connection with Nottingham Hackspace to use new machines and programs for my installation. I hope that I can create a new end result that is something very special for the public and develops my artistic career.
I really hope that with my new project I can affect the senses and the feelings not just in a conceptual way but also to involve the viewer’s feelings as well.
