Don’t Lick the Walls: NTU BA Photography Exhibition
16th – 24th May
Private View: Friday 17th May, 17:00 - 20:00
Surface is delighted to present Don’t Lick the Walls, the culmination of work from the 2024 graduating BA Photography degree students at Nottingham Trent University.
Don't Lick the Walls considers a range of qualities and explores photographic approaches that include digital, analogue and artificial intelligence. There is a considered focus on the tactile attributes of the materials employed, in which images are printed onto fabrics, ceramics, and natural materials. Embedded within each artwork is a narrative deeply rooted in personal experiences. Themes explored encompass a wide spectrum from mental health and female empowerment to sustainability, illusion, faith, and a rich tapestry of diverse subcultures such as fashion, music, and motorsports. The photographic examination extends to the complex layers of intersectionality, where students confront emotional hurdles, individually and collectively, through critical lenses applied to their photographic practices.
Don’t Lick the Walls will take place in both the Main Gallery and Project Space. As always there will be a donations bar with lagers, wines, and ales from local brewery, Pheasantry.
