Through Our Eyes: NTU BA Photography Exhibition
21st – 31st May
Opening Night: Friday 20th May, 18:00 - 21:00
Surface is delighted to present Through Our Eyes, the culmination of work from the 2022 graduating BA Photography degree students at Nottingham Trent University.
Through Our Eyes incorporates an impressive number of the photographers’ works in the inclusive, shared space of Surface. While each photographer retains a crucial particularity of their practice, the works within the exhibition are interconnected through a variety of ties that include exploratory visions, committed research, and refinement of skill. These aspects that the course has fabricated and strengthened will fuel their emergence into the expanding contemporary photography communities further afield.
Each of the photographers bring their distinct processes to the exhibition, representing a range of exploration and meditation on the relationships between places and the shifting dialogue this creates in a shared experience of life. The work celebrates diversity in all forms, exploring personal issues of mental health, natural phenomena, our relationship with land, and the private and public space of surveillance. Social justice is integral in the visual politics of sexual harassment, the Queer community in Nottingham, and questions of Britain’s Youth, exploring identity and culture, and reworking the idea of ‘This is England’. This work made by photography students at Nottingham Trent University demonstrates a variety of techniques, methods, and practices to address a myriad of issues present in the world today.
Through Our Eyes will take place in both the Main Gallery and Project Space. As always there will be a donations bar with ales from local brewery, Pheasantry.
